Workshops & Training

Writing is a skill. And like lots of skills, it can be learned, refined and perfected with the right help and support.

I can help you to become a more confident writer. My training is particularly valuable for:

  • Leaders who suddenly need to write often
  • People who are used to writing academically, but not for business
  • Anyone with a ‘content’ role they’ve never done before
  • Marketers who want to improve their writing skills
  • Those who want a ‘refresher’ course to keep them on track

Proofing our content writers is not something I thought I would be doing before my training with Gill, so thank you!

Alex Bennett, Digital Marketing Specialist, Breathe

I deliver group sessions for businesses, and run courses specifically for those who are sole traders or freelancers that need to be able to write convincingly for their own businesses. I also love working in 1-2-1 sessions with people who need hints and tips on how to improve their writing.

My support looks at:

Grammar basics

Apostrophes, spelling, active voice and smart sentence construction – all you need to boost your writing.

Writing without jargon

Keeping it simple to help get your message across quickly and effectively – essential in good business writing.

Formal and informal writing

Knowing the difference and understanding when to use them – and how far is too far.

Writing persuasively

The words and phrases that can help you to persuade your reader to take the next steps.

Changing tone

How to use the tone of your writing constructively to get the outcome you’re looking for.

Structure and format

Understanding what formats work best for each type of communication, and how to structure clearly and with style.

MINI CASE STUDY:

Writing with Confidence – group workshops

I run workshops designed for people who are either running their own business and have to do their own writing, or have writing responsibilities as part of their current role and would like to be more confident when they put pen to paper.

Just two hours long and with interactive exercises, these workshops give you a great grounding in how to plan and structure your writing, how to come up with great ideas for blogs and articles, and tips and tricks to help you write clearly and with your target audience in mind.

"Gill ran some workshops with the wider Breathe company to help achieve consistency in all customer facing communications. This included reviewing our personas, tone and written style. Everyone really enjoyed the workshops and continue to use the outputs every day."

Rachel King, Marketing Director, Breathe
